We are pleased to announce that the International Programs Week at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX will screen “A Doctor of My Own” on October 9th, 2014 at 12 PM. The screening will be held in ACB 240 as part of the Global Perspectives Film Series. International Programs Week is a week dedicated to raising awareness of the global health initiatives conducted by the TTUHSC.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Film Screening of “A Doctor of My Own” with director Trisha Pasricha in-person

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will screen the documentary film A DOCTOR OF MY OWN on Wednesday November 19th, 2014 from 4-5 PM in Bethesda, MD presented by the NIH Global Health Interest Group. The screening will take place on the NIH campus in Building 50, conference room 1328/1334. Film director Trisha Pasricha will appear in-person for a Q&A following the screening. The National Institutes of Health is one of the world’s foremost medical research centers, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

St. George’s, University of London Screening of “A Doctor of My Own”

We are pleased to announce that St. George’s, University of London will host a viewing of the film A DOCTOR OF MY OWN: The First Medical Students of Namibia on October 27th, 2014 in London, UK.

The screening will be moderated by Dr. Shirley Hodgson, Professor of Cancer Genetics, who frequently works at the University of Namibia School of Medicine in developing the pediatric curriculum. Professor Hodgson has collaborated closely with the faculty and students of the University of Namibia and currently teaches a Global Health module BSc module at St. George’s.

World Health Cinema Series at the University of Washington presents “A Doctor of My Own”

The University of Washington World Health Cinema Series will be hosting a screening of the film A DOCTOR OF MY OWN: The First Medical Students of Namibia as a part of their World Health Cinema Series on June 2, 2014 in Seattle, WI. The event starts at 5:30 PM in the Health Sciences Building T-435 with a post-film discussion facilitated by Amy Hogopian of the University of Washington School of Public Health.

The World Health Cinema (WHC) film series was established in 2006 as a monthly film series at the University of Washington aimed at showcasing global health topics through documentary and feature films. More information can be found here at the University of Washington – Department of Global Health!

Film director, Trisha Pasricha, discusses medical education in Sub-Saharan Africa at the 2014 CUGH Global Health Film Festival.

We are excited to announce that A Doctor of My Own will screen at the inaugural Global Health Film Festival at the Fifth Annual Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) conference. The festival will take place in Washington, D.C. at 6:30 PM on the evening of May 11, 2014 at the Washington Hilton. The film’s director will be present along with other leaders in global health for a Q&A session following the screening. Established in 2008, CUGH is a consortium of over 120 academic institutions in high, middle, and low income countries involved in global health with over 1,400 attendees representing 56 countries last year. Please visit the CUGH 2014 website to learn more about the film festival and details of the A Doctor of My Own screening this May!

A Doctor of My Own will screen at the Unite for Sight Global Health & Innovation Conference (GHIC) on April 13, 2013 at Yale University in New Haven, CT in a private event. The Global Health & Innovation Conference is the world’s leading and largest global health and social entrepreneurship conference that attracts more than 2,200 people from around the world. Advanced Screening of “A Doctor of My Own” at Vanderbilt University

We are pleased to announce that Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in association with Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health will host an advanced screening of A Doctor of My Own as the culminating event of the 2013 World Health Week on March 22, 2013. The documentary viewing will be followed by a special post-screening discussion with the filmmaker and VIGH faculty members involved in the production. Read more about the screening on the VUSM calendar of events!
